Irene Brincks of Carroll

Irene Brincks, 97 of Carroll, died Thursday, January 30, 2025 at her home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2025 at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll.  The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm.  Lector and Eucharistic Minister will be JoAnn Brincks.  Gift Bearers will be Kari Handley, Brenda Vonnahme, Michelle Brincks, Jenny Halbur, and Sarah Halbur.  Casket Bearers will be Brad Peterson, Doug Brincks, Jason Brincks, Scott Halbur, Ryan Halbur, Kevin Halbur, Cade Brincks and Evan Brincks.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

A visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a rosary at 5 p.m.  Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Monday at the church.  Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation.  Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Irene’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.

Irene Mary was born on October 20, 1927 near Roselle, the daughter of John H. and Elizabeth (Sibbel) Behrens.  She grew up in Roselle and attended Holy Angels School.  On June 7, 1948, Irene was united in marriage to Paul Brincks at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Lambert Schenkelberg officiating.  Paul and Irene farmed southeast of Carroll and later moved to the Carroll Community in 1994.

Irene was a devoted homemaker; loved cooking and hosting family gatherings.  She enjoyed tending to her garden, an occasional trip to the casino, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Irene was a member of St. John Paul II Parish where she cleaned and also serves the parish in many other capacities over the years.

Irene is survived by her children: Diane (Michael) Peterson of Bennington, NE, Ron (Janet) Brincks of Carroll, Gary (Jean) Brincks of Carroll, Joleen Brincks of Independence, and Brian (Suzanne) Brincks of Carroll; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her sister-in-law, JoAnn Brincks of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 2015; her parents, John H. and Elizabeth Behrens; her grandson, Matthew Brincks; her siblings: Lawrence (Justine) Behrens, Joe (Julitta) Behrens, John A. (Beatrice) Behrens, Mary (James) Ausman, and Louise Behrens; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ed (Rita) Brincks, Leo Brincks, Bernard Brincks, Marie Brincks, Lucille (Bert) Vonnahme, Marian Brincks, and Rita (Albin) Venner.
