Larry was born on January 25, 1937 in Lake City, IA, and was the son of Daniel and June (Remsburg) Lasher. He grew up on his family’s farm north of Lidderdale. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1955. Larry enlisted in the United States Army and served three years stationed in France. He played baseball for the Army and also at Iowa State University which he attended upon his discharge. On August 2, 1959 he was united in marriage to Linda Obmann at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. The couple lived in Wall Lake for three years before moving to a farm northeast of Lidderdale and then the Lasher Family Farm in 1971 where they raised their family. Larry and Linda enjoyed spending the winters in Alamo, Texas. They were very proud of their farming operation which received the Farm Bureau Heritage Farm Award in 2022. Larry was an avid Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Cubs fan. He loved baseball, especially the Vanderbilt Commodores, but most of all Larry loved his family, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him called him “PaPa”.
