Duane James Petersen, age 68, of Addison, TX, and formerly of Carroll, IA, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2025 at his home in Addison.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Ryan Roehrig officiating. Organist for the service will be Abe Batten. Casket bearers will be Mark Boell, Mark Stoelk, Ken Loneman, Rob Wright, Bruce Ryan, and Dillard Avey. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Duane was born on December 8, 1956 in Carroll, IA. He was the son of Vertis Emil Albert and Marion L. (Breidert) Petersen. He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1975. Duane worked at Quick Trip in Carroll following high school until he moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he worked for Southwest Airlines starting as a baggage handler. This began a 34 year career with Southwest in the Operations Department. Duane moved to Nashville and then to Dallas with the airline during his career. He enjoyed golfing, socializing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Duane is survived by his twin brother Dale Petersen of Vail, IA; his sister Jolene Stoelk (Mark) of Westside, IA; three nieces; two nephews; a brother-in-law Kenny Loneman of Altoona, IA; and other extended family members.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents Vertis and Marion Petersen; a sister Barbara Loneman; and a niece Rachel Stoelk.
