Western Iowa Readies For Up To Six Inches Of Snow, -20 F Wind Chills

According to the National Weather Service, more snow is set to fall in Iowa beginning late tonight (Tuesday) and continuing through Wednesday evening, with western Iowa expected to receive up to a half foot. Nearly all of the listening area is under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning Tuesday evening, with snowfall projections ranging from 3 to 6 inches in the region. Snowfall rates are expected to reach up to a half-inch per hour. Fortunately, winds are expected to remain moderate, reducing the potential for widespread blowing snow. However, the potential for road conditions to deteriorate quickly still exists. Officials urge motorists to check road conditions before traveling, as snow-covered and slick roads could lead to hazardous driving conditions. Bitterly cold temperatures are expected to return with the snowfall, with windchill anticipated forecasts as low as 20 degrees F below zero in the Carroll area into Thursday.
