Carroll Broadcasting Sports Director Jeff Blankman was honored with one of two Public Service Awards during last night’s (Thursday) Carroll Chamber of Commerce banquet for his dedication to local students and athletes. Emcee Tim Fitzpatrick says this award is presented to those who go above and beyond for the community they serve.

Blankman joined the Carroll Broadcasting team in 2004. Operations Manager John Ryan says it was the best decision he’s ever made for the company.

According to Ryan, Blankman regularly stays up into the early morning hours to publish results, stats, and stories so that the athletes he covers receive the attention they deserve.

Blankman was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2015 and was honored by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association in 2010. Blankman says he’s never done any of it for recognition; it has always been about the student-athletes.
