Lynda Dukes Franey has been awarded the Carroll Chamber’s of Commerce Humanitarian Award during last week’s banquet, for her selfless help to be there for anyone in need. Dukes Franey has been known throughout Carroll to often think of others before herself. She has played Mrs. Claus during many Christmas time events, financially assisting someone in need or just being there after an illness or a surgery. Emcee Tim Fitzpatrick says the Humanitarian Award honors those who commit to address the well-being and human needs of Carroll.
Kim Murrell, a long-time friend of Dukes Franey says she is the true definition of the humanitarian award. Murrell says knowing Dukes Franey for the past 36 years they have shared many memories together. Murrell cites a famous quote “We don’t meet people by accident. Everyone is meant to cross our path for a reason,” and she says that everyone who knows Dukes Franey is lucky to have such a person in their lives.
Dukes Franey says she is grateful for the community and to be recognized for this award, even though that was not the driving factor for her efforts.
