CCSD Board Of Education Approves 2025-26 School Calendar With Few Modifications

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education approved the 2025-26 school calendar during Monday night’s meeting, with a few new changes to be implemented. The district’s first day of school for the new year will be Monday, Aug. 25, the earliest day approved by the legislature for classes to begin. Last year, teacher conferences were held one day, with an early dismissal for all students on that Thursday, with no school on Friday. The only criticism received was that elementary teachers struggled to fit in all conferences in one evening. This year, the board approved no school on Thursday, Oct. 9, for fall conferences and March 12, for spring conferences to give teachers a whole day to schedule meetings with parents and work on professional development. There would still be no school the following Fridays, Oct. 10 and March 13. Something new the district will be trying is ending the second quarter/first semester on Dec. 23, before leaving for winter break, instead of having students take semester tests a few days after returning in the new year. Depending on the weather for next year and if days need to be made up, the tentative last day of school is Thursday, May 28, with seniors’ last day being May 21 and graduation on the 24. With this schedule, the district will have 1,120.5 instructional hours, approximately 40 hours over the minimum requirement set by the state. That is equivalent to around six snow days built in for weather, which the district will not have to make up if missed.
