Ella Kerwood of Carroll

Ella Jean Kerwood, age 77, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Regency Park in Carroll.
 Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll, IA.  The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott assisted by Deacon Scott Steffen.  Lector for the Mass will be Joan Kerwood.  Gift bearers will be Megan, Quinn, and Harper Houston.  Casket bearers will be Al Schapman, Don Schon, Justin Agan, Terry Schwarzenbach, Zach Bachman, and Michael Kerwood. The Catholic Daughters will form an honor guard at the Mass.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday, February 28, 2025 where there will a Rosary held at 5:30 P.M. by the Catholic Daughters. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Catholic Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Carroll Tiger Booster Club.

Ella was born on September 18, 1947 in Carroll, IA.  She was the daughter of Kenneth and Hilda (Beyerink) Schwarzenbach.  She graduated from Carroll High School in 1965.  She was married to Ronald Kerwood on December 30, 1967 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll by Msgr. Karhoff.  Ella began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company immediately following high school and retired when the company relocated to Omaha in the early 1980’s.  Ella then worked for Farmer’s Cooperative in Glidden and Jacobsen Travel.  She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, the church guild, and the Catholic Daughters of America.  Ella enjoyed collecting anything P. Buckley Moss and she founded Pat’s Western Iowa Friends, a local chapter of the P. Buckley Moss society. She was very active with the Carroll Tigers Booster Club and the Carroll High Alumni Association.
Ella is survived by her husband Ronald Kerwood of Carroll; her son Mark Kerwood and his wife Irene Nissen and their son Walter of Fort Collins, Colorado; a brother-in-law David Kerwood (Joan) of Boone, IA; a sister-in-law Patricia Nedved (Gerald) of Garner, IA; a sister-in-law Carole Alexander of Houston, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Hilda Schwarzenbach; her father and mother-in-law Donald and Mary Kerwood; and a brother-in-law Larry Kerwood.
