The Glidden-Ralston (G-R) Community School District (CSD) is seeking approval from residents on a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) to provide much needed renovations and upgrades to the school building. Tuesday, March 4, will be a special election where voters can approve implementing a PPEL levy on property taxes to members in the district. Superintendent Tom Ridder says this is the first time that G-R CSD is seeking a voter-approved PPEL and says the vote needs to pass with a 50 percent plus one in favor of the levy.
Ridder says the money will be used throughout the years to update vehicles, like busses needing to be replaced, improve ventilation in the shop, and much more, including renovations to move rooms around and update restroom facilities.
Ridder wants to ensure G-R District residents that they would not be asking for approval of this PPEL levy if it wasn’t something needing to be completed.
Again, G-R CSD is asking for district members to vote during the special election on Tuesday, March 5, for the new PPEL levy. Voters will cast votes at same location used during a normal election. Anyone with additional questions are asked to call Ridder at 712-659-3411.
