Fuel prices in Iowa were on the rise again this week in the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Feb. 19, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.01, up six cents from last week’s price and eight cents higher than a year ago. The national average for gasoline on Wednesday rose one cent to $3.16 per gallon. In retail diesel, Iowa prices rose one cent to a statewide average of $3.46 per gallon, compared to $3.84 a year ago. Local prices remain 23 cents below the $3.69 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. As for heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site jumped 66 cents to $4.20 per MMBtu. Propane prices held steady $1.67 per gallon, but home heating oil rose three cents to $3.05 per gallon.
