Arlo Raymond Buck, age 88, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at his home in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Ryan Roehrig officiating. Organist for the service will be Abe Batten and Brie Roehrig. Casket bearers will be Chad Buck, Jordan Tillotson, Nick Bellinghausen, Alpha Ebane, Seth Osterlund, and Steve Hasbrook. Honorary casket bearers will be Gary Stortz, Larry Rasmussen, Norm Schettler. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. with a prayer service held at 5:00 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. The casket will be moved to the church Monday afternoon where visitation will resume from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M. prior to the service.

Arlo was born February 9, 1937 at his parents’ home in Vail, IA, and was the son of Raymond and Hertha (Christians) Buck. He was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Vail. He later joined the Presbyterian Church in Denison, IA. He attended grade school in Vail and later transferred to the Denison High School graduating with the Class of 1955. On September 9, 1956 he was united in marriage to Lois Jacobs at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ute, IA. During his years of work, he was employed at Safeway, Brenny’s Market, and finished his work years at Pella in Carroll.
As a devoted husband and father, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. With a loving heart for people, he was very helpful to everyone whenever possible. He loved nature and the great outdoors. He found a special joy in feeding the birds and watching them from his recliner. Arlo and Lois enjoyed spending the summers in Highlandville, IA, for 33 years where they had a camper near the trout stream in which the joy of his life was to land a 9 ½ pound trout.
Arlo is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois Buck of Carroll; two sons, Todd Buck (Celina) of Runnells, and Tracy Buck (Cindy) of Breda; grandchildren: Nicole Bellinghausen (Nick) of Breda; Hilary Ebane (Alpha) of Omaha, Courtney Tillotson (Jordan) of Bondurant, Chad Buck of Runnells; great grandchildren: Hunter Buck, Camden Bellinghausen, Chloe Tillotson, Ziah Ebane, Porter Bellinghausen, Cooper Tillotson, and Enzo Ebane; sister, Berneil Proel of Denison; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arlo is preceded in death by his infant daughter Terri Ann Buck; parents Raymond and Hertha Buck; in-laws Elmer and Leona Jacobs; sister Joanne Osterlund (Jerry); brother Kenny Buck (Lois); brother-in-law Rovanis Proel.
