The City of Wall Lake is currently accepting bids for the purchase and relocating of an abandoned house until March 21. The house, located at 125 Center St. in Wall Lake has been in sitting empty for quite some time, with the city shutting utilities off around six months ago. City Clerk Chris Rodman says the house is approximately 1,190 square-feet, labeled as a studio house with one bathroom, which would make a great project for a contractor, just in a different location.
Rodman says the city did look into options of tearing it down, but decided there are better avenues to take, as the house is not in too bad of shape.
Sealed bids are being accepted at Wall Lake City Hall, 108 Boyer St, until Friday, March 21 at 12:00 p.m. Bids will then be reviewed at the following Monday, March 24 city council meeting. Rodman says the dollar amount and the property address where the house is planning to be relocated must be included in sealed bids.
Once a bid is accepted, buyer has until May 1 to make the full payment to the city, or the property will be offered to the next highest bidder. Once the house is paid, it must be removed by Aug. 15, or the city will remove the house by any means necessary. Anyone with questions is encouraged to call Rodman at 712-644-2216.
