The new Guthrie County Fair horse superintendents are fundraising to build new stalls for the county fair’s 4-H and FFA Horse Barn. Kaitlyn Kenyon Boblett and Makenna Vais are in their first year serving in this role and are looking to update the current stalls to create safer spaces for both the horses and the public. Boblett says the old stalls allow for children to stick their hands between bars, which can be dangerous depending on the horse’s temperament. With the new stalls, the gates will be taller, limiting visitors’ interactions. The superintendents are looking to raise $25,000 by June 1, to have 30 ten by ten-foot stalls built and ready to go for the Guthrie County F air scheduled over Labor Day weekend. An account has been created at People’s Bank in Guthrie Center for those interested in donating at this time. Other methods of donations will be established in the next coming months.
