Manning Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison On Child Sex Abuse Charges

A Manning man charged with sexually abusing a juvenile under the age of 14 has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. According to Carroll County District Court records, 38-year-old Michael William Alexander pled guilty to two counts of lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony, and was sentenced yesterday (Monday). Alexander was initially charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony, for allegedly performing sex acts with the juvenile victim between March 1, 2019 and May 31, 2019. As part of the plea agreement with prosecutors, the charges were reduced to class C felonies, and the judge ordered Alexander to serve 10 years in prison on each count, to be served concurrently. In addition to the prison term, he was ordered to pay over $2,500 in fines, surcharges, and court costs and must register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life. Following Monday’s sentencing hearing, Alexander was immediately remanded into the custody of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for transport to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale to begin serving his sentence.
