Lake View Mayor Stepping Down, City Needing To Find Replacement Mayor And City Administrator

Lake View Mayor, John Westergaard is stepping down from his position after an almost two-decade tenure. Westergaard served on the Lake View City Council prior to being voted in as mayor, and was known for his passion and drive for making Lake View the community it is today. Westergaard says he has seen many projects completed in his time as mayor and is glad to see Lake View thriving.

Westergaard is resigning due to health reasons, as he says the demands of the job for the past six months has been very stressful on him. He did receive good news that his worst fears regarding his health are not a concern, which is he thankful for. While unable to share exactly the next steps for appointing a new mayor, Westergaard says he believes good things are hopefully coming to Lake View.

Westergaard says he still plans to help out anyway he can with events and projects for the Lake View community. He wants to thank all of the city officials and staff that have worked with him over the last years for everything they have done, even though much goes unnoticed.

For the time being, Mayor Pro Tempore, Ken Steinkamp, will serve in the role until further guidance is made on how city council would like to proceed to permanently fill the vacancy of both the mayor and city administrator.
