Nebraska Man Pleads Guilty To Burglary After Attempting To Steal A Car From Manning Resident

A Nebraska man has entered a plea agreement with prosecutors after attempting to steal a car from a residence in Manning. According to Carroll County District Court records, 26-year-old Caleb Jaymz Douglas Thomson of Burt, Neb. attempted to steal a BMW from a house in the 50 block of Ann Street in Manning on Oct. 3, 2024. After being caught by the owner, Thomson started showing aggression towards the victim, following him to his shop and attempting to kick the door in. Thomson entered the shop, and followed the victim to his house and tried to gain entry to the residence. Thomson has entered a plea agreement to one count second-degree burglary, a class C felony. Per the agreement, all other charges will be dismissed. A plea hearing has been scheduled for March 10 at the Carroll County Courthouse. Thomson can face a maximum penalty of up to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
