A local Girl Scout troop member is working to donate 300 boxes of girl scout cookies to residents at nursing homes in Carroll. Ten-year-old Caylee Olberding is in her second year with Girl Scout Troop #49, enjoying all the activities and making new friends with the other girl scouts. Caylee has spent most of her life getting to know residents at Regency Park on weekends, nights and holidays helping out her mother, Melissa Olberding, who has been employed with Regency Park as a nurse for the past 25 years, which Olberding says is the main reason why Caylee wanted to sweeten up the residents’ day.
Olberding says she is overwhelmed with the amount of support they are receiving from community members to assist with this donation. For those still looking to help them meet the 300 boxes goal, there are multiple ways to donate.
Olberding is hoping to reach the goal and drop off the cookies for the residents in the next couple of weeks.
Again, those interested in donating cookies can reach out to Olberding on Facebook, call or text 712-790-6512, drop off donations at their lemonade stand this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Dollar Tree, or Venmo at Melissa-Olberding-1. If the 300 goal is reached, 75 boxes will be distributed among the residents at each of the four long-term care facilities: Regency Park, Accura Healthcare of Carroll, St. Anthony Regional Hospital Nursing Home, and Journey Senior Services.
