Administrators and staff from the Kuemper Catholic School System hosted their annual town hall meeting last night (Thursday), drawing a larger crowd than they have in recent years. In a change of pace from prior town halls, the parochial school hosted a come-and-go program that allowed the public to speak directly with the admin rather than a formal presentation. Kuemper President John Steffes says many questions he fielded were related to the master facilities plan.
Initial plans for the expansions at Holy Spirit could be ready as soon as this summer. Students and teachers need more space, particularly as more young families consider private schools with the advent of educational savings accounts (ESAs). Steffes notes total enrollment at Kuemper has trended higher over the last several years, rising from 1,128 in Spring 2021 to 1,236 in Spring 2024. He says this will likely lead to more space issues in the future.
Ted Garringer, the parochial school’s 8th-12th grade principal, says Carroll County is fortunate to have great options countywide, but Kuemper can offer something many schools can’t: a Christ-centered education.
Steffes says interest from young families in enrollment has led to waiting lists for some grade levels, so he encourages parents who are interested in Kuemper to contact their central office sooner rather than later.
Steffes, Garringer, and staff thank the many families, businesses, parishioners, and community partners who continue to support the Kuemper Catholic School System.
