Renee Steinkamp, 70 of Carroll, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. Music will be by Kathy Halbur and Julie Steinkamp. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Kim Vandendriessche. Gift Bearers will be Renee’s grandchildren. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Lexi Steinkamp, David Steinkamp, Jack Gordon, Haley Steinkamp, Carter Mohr, Molly Mohr, Collin Delaney, and August Steinkamp. Casket Bearers will be David Steinkamp, Jim Sporrer, Eric Reinhart, Jason Reed, Matt Lengeling, Anthony Bellizzi, and Taylor Sporrer. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
A visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a rosary at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Tuesday morning where additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m.

Born on June 9, 1954 in Carroll, IA. Renee is the daughter of Duane and Vera Sporrer. She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School with the class of 1973. Renee married Mark Steinkamp on June 1, 1973, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple made their home northwest of Breda where they raised a family and farmed until 1996 then moved to Carroll. Renee worked at Nobel Popcorn in Sac City, Breda Telemarketing, Food 4 Less, Hy-Vee, American Home Shield. Before starting her own home daycare business in Carroll; Renee loved every child that came through the doors.
Renee loved spending time with family on vacation or any family gathering. With friends playing cards or spending time chatting at Pizza Hut or wherever they gathered. Renee traveled with Mark in the truck several times especially when he was going places she to go like Georgia, New York. She recently enjoyed a trip to Colorado and Florida with our family. Her grandchildren and family are the things she prioritized and valued the most. The most beautiful hobby she had was her embroidery work, caring for flowers, outdoors, and gardening when she was able to. She also loved getting nails done with us girls. Renee was a member of Holy Spirit Church of Carroll.
Left to celebrate Renee’s life are her children: Michelle (Richard) Mohr of Carroll, Ben Steinkamp of Carroll, Jaime (Laura) Steinkamp of Prole, and Anne (Eric) Delaney of Desoto; grandchildren Lexi Steinkamp, David Steinkamp, Jack Gordon, Haley Steinkamp, Carter Mohr, Molly Mohr, Collin Delaney, August (Gus) Steinkamp; her Parents Duane and Vera Sporrer of Carroll. Her siblings Rhonda Reinhart of Guthrie Center, Vicki (Ron) Lengeling of Carroll, Jim Sporrer of Des Moines, Roxanne (Bill C.) Reed of Des Moines, Lisa (Rich) Schenkelberg of Carroll, and Jodi (Tony) Bellizzi of Norwalk. Her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Steinkamp of Grand Meadow, MN, LaVern Steinkamp of Taopi, MN, Neil Steinkamp of Lake View, Everett Dean Steinkamp of Lee’s Summit, MO, Orlin (Myra) Steinkamp of Wall Lake, Mildred Steinkamp of Wall Lake, Micki Kohorst of Okoboji. Renee had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Renee was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Steinkamp, her brother in law Don Reinhart, her grandparents, Ed and Annie Fleskes, and Bill and Elise Sporrer, her mother and father in law Lawrence and Estella (Reising) Steinkamp, brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Leon Steinkamp, Alice Steinkamp, Marie Steinkamp, Denny and Vivian Steinkamp, Ambrose Steinkamp, Linda and Joe Klein, Tim Steinkamp.
