A Kansas woman faces public intoxication and weapons charges following an incident late last week at a Carroll hotel. According to affidavits filed by the Carroll Police Department in Carroll County District Court, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:17 p.m. on Thursday to the Super 8 in the 700 block of Bella Vista Drive on a report of an inebriated individual carrying weapons around children. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Bridgette Marie Warnke of Chapman, Kans., who was displaying slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes, and failure to maintain balance. Warnke admitted to law enforcement during the exchange that she was carrying a firearm, which was promptly confiscated. An additional search of her hotel room did not locate any additional weapons, as a family member had already taken them. Warnke declined a preliminary breath test (PBT) at the scene and was taken into custody. She was booked into the Carroll County jail on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, and public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor. Testing at the jail revealed her blood alcohol content (BAC) to be 0.279 percent, nearly three times the legal limit. Warnke was released after posting a $1,300 cash bond and is scheduled to make her initial appearance in court on March 20.
