Marie Lucinda Eischeid Schreck passed from her long earthly life of 98 years on March 9, 2025 at Regency Park Nursing Home of Carroll.  Marie was born on July 20,1926 to Anna Wittrock Eischeid and her husband Theodore “Ted” Sr.  Born on a farm near Halbur, IA, she attended St. Augustine Parish and school. Marie always wished she had been able to go to high school and though this was a dream deferred she had the opportunity to study for and obtain her GED in 1972. Marie was an avid bridge player and was always ready for a variety of other card games that required thinking as well as chance.

A woman of deep faith, she spent her adult life as a member of Sacred Heart Church in Templeton, until she moved to Carroll and joined Holy Spirit Parish.  She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America and served as a Grand Regent. Her generous service included volunteering at Sacred Heart School, serving on the School Board, and as part of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary among other things.

On July 22, 1947, she married Elmer Schreck, her Navy sweetheart from nearby Templeton, IA where they made their home together for 55 years before Elmer died in November of 2002.  Her call in life was to raise a family and give them the best love and care possible.  The cherished times she spent with her family brought her joy and comfort.  She is survived by her children: Sr. Nancy Schreck, Okolona, MS; R.T. (Judy) Schreck; Carol Schreck; Greg (Judy) Schreck all of Carroll; Joan (John) Grossman of Castle Rock, CO; Sharon (Tony) Weiler of Winterset, IA; and Jim (Kim) Schreck of Iowa City, IA.  She is the proud grandmother of 13, and great grandmother of 23. Marie is also survived by her sister-in-law Irene Eischeid as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, her parents, Anna and Theodore and ten siblings:  sisters Lorine Sextro, Florence Gephart, Louise Boeckman, Irma Fast, and Tillie Busenbark; brothers Leonard, Hilbert, Ted Jr., Louis, and Alvin.
