All charges against a Manson teen, who injured and threatened to kill an individual, are being dismissed in district court. According to Calhoun County District Court records, 17-year-old Teaghun Birchard was taken into custody back in October 2024 after getting physical with another adult male living in his residence, going after him with scissors and threatening to kill him after being denied access back to his electronic devices. Birchard was facing one count of attempted murder, a class B felony, and going armed with intent, a class D felony. Per the wishes of the alleged victim’s family, both charges have been dropped and dismissed without prejudice from Calhoun County District Court. Birchard was being held at the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center and will be released soon. The State is filing non-criminal action against Birchard in juvenile court to provide more options for services for Birchard.
