Limited spots are still available for children to attend this year’s summer camps hosted by Carroll County Conservation. Currently, Polliwogs, which is geared towards four and five-year-olds, and Tadpoles for six and seven-year-olds, are full for both camps, and those interested will be put on a waitlist. Pipsqueaks is for children two and three years old who can attend Turtle Camp on June 25 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to meet live turtles and a fun craft to take home. Duck Duck Goose Camp is on July 23 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for fun games and learning about the ducks and geese that can be found around Swan Lake. Explorers for eight- and nine-year-olds have a Pioneer Camp on either June 24 or 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers will dive into history to learn what it is like to live like the pioneers. Beagle Scout Camp will test nature skills, checking off challenges to gain knowledge of the outdoors, will be held on July 22 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Junior Naturalist is for children 10 to 13 years old with two camps scheduled on July 29 (ages 10-11) and July 31 (ages 12-13) for campers to test skills of canoeing, campfire cooking, geocaching and much more from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers participating in full-day events will be responsible to bring their lunch. Camp costs vary from $15 to $25, depending on age group. This year’s summer camps are partly funded in Memory of Don Severin, a Carroll County Conservation Board Member from 1968-1991.
