Eighteen entries from the Carroll High School (CHS) and Kuemper Catholic High School (KHS) speech teams earned top scores at the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) state contest this past weekend. CHS sent eight entries to state in Moville on Saturday, six of them earning an “I” or “excellent” rating, including Bri Kiger, Sarah Ryherd, Ellyce Roetman, Logan Canuso, and Cyrus Karim. KHS sent 17 students, 12 of them receiving high scores from judges, including Simon Pietig, Logan Rial, Makinlee Hingeley, Regan Garringer, Joel Schultes, Joseph Masching, Laura Steinkamp, Louis Meyers, Meredith Sturm, and Alese Lenz. Exceptional entries will be invited to perform at or attend the IHSSA All-State Festival on March 31 at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). All State nominations are expected to be announced early this week. A complete list of CHS and KHS competitors and their scores can be found included below.
