For the second time in less than a month, Carroll County Sheriff Ken Pingrey is warning that emergency response times may be impacted by the impending winter storms that are set to begin Tuesday evening into Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), from as little as an inch to nearly a foot of snow is forecasted to fall across the listening area, with higher accumulations expected to the north. The snow, combined with 60+ mph winds, could create blizzard-like conditions across much of the region, which could slow or limit first-responders’ ability to answer calls for service. Pingrey says, “If a motorist becomes stranded, it is possible they may have to wait until conditions improve before someone can reach them.” Pingrey encourages residents to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary while the storm is ongoing.
