Carroll Man Has Pled Guilty To Eluding After Initiating High Speed Chase Christmas Eve While On Parole

A Carroll man has pled guilty after initiating a high-speed chase through multiple counties on Christmas Eve last year. According to Carroll County District Court records, 30-year-old Tyler Scott Mattingly eluded from a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy after an attempted traffic stop, reaching speeds of over 120 mph at times and several other traffic violations. The pursuit started southwest of Ralston on Zephyr Avenue and the 240th Street intersection, continuing north before hitting spike strips on Jennings Avenue south of Lake City and the vehicle coming to a rest. While Mattingly was being detained, a K9 officer alerted on the vehicle and baggies, scales and cups with crystalline substance was discovered and suspected marijuana. Mattingly has pled guilty to eluding, 25 mph over limit, a class D felony. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for April 24 at the Carroll County Courthouse. Mattingly was on parole at the time of the chase, for a 10-year prison sentence on first-degree theft charges out of Greene County. In conjunction with potentially needing to serve the remainder of that prison sentence, Mattingly can also face an additional five years in prison with the eluding charge.
