Lake City Has Amendend Snow Ordinance, Reminding Residents To Keep Streets Clear For Plows To Work

With the latest forecasted snow totals expected to be between six and a foot for Lake City, City Administrator Jacob Matthews wishes to remind everyone to remain weather-aware and remove vehicles from the streets. During Monday’s city council meeting, Matthews said the council passed an ordinance amending the original city code regarding snow removal. He says Lake City residents will need to be weather-aware and pay attention to upcoming forecasts.

Matthews says the city will issue citations to those in violation only if the snowfall is significant enough for the plows to be utilized to clear the streets.

With Iowa winter weather being a bit unpredictable at times, Matthews advises Lake City residents to be aware of the forecast. Any snow accumulation predicted should be a reason to bring vehicles off the street.

A copy of the new ordinance text has been included below.
