Travel conditions vary widely throughout the listening area so far today (Wednesday). Communities in the northern portions of the Carroll Broadcasting listening area are experiencing blizzard-like conditions, while the storm’s severity is less intense to the south. According to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, roads are impassible in some areas, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office reports powerlines are down in areas of the county and a tow ban is in place. Thousands of customers in Sac, Calhoun, Crawford, and northern Carroll counties are without power. Many counties are pulling plows from the roadway or at least considering it as a matter of safety. Motorists are reminded that travel is not advised and should be aware that stuck vehicles may have to wait hours before someone can respond, depending on conditions. Reports of accidents are limited, but at least one semi-tractor trailer rolled over on U.S. Highway 30 near Glidden around 11:10 a.m. Monday morning.
