The City of Pomeroy is advising water service customers of a planned outage and resulting boil order that are set to begin next week. Officials say water in the community will be shut off starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 24, and will remain off for approximately four to six hours while crews work to complete a watermain repair on Main Street. Once service is restored, likely around midday, a boil advisory will become active. Customers are advised all water from the system that is to be used for consumption, such as drinking, cooking, making ice, or brushing teeth, needs to be held at a rolling boil for at least one minute. Impacted customers can also use bottled water as an alternative. Other water uses, like bathing or laundry, should be unaffected by the order. The advisory is expected to be in place for around 48 hours to allow time for sample testing to return clear of bacterial contamination. Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Pomeroy City Hall at 712-468-2411.
