The Carroll City Council convenes on Monday for their next regularly scheduled meeting. The March 24 meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall, and the agenda includes further discussions on the 12th Street reconstruction project and associated design plans. At its Feb. 10 meeting, the council voted to proceed with plans that included a 28’ street width with restricted parking due to concerns over the cost of updating all of the sidewalks within the project area. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says the council will take another look at the plans with updated cost estimates.
The updated figures from McClure Engineering, the firm chosen by the city to design and oversee the project, show that the option that allows parking on one side of the road would cost $981,860, compared to the no-parking option, which would cost $872,760. Kooiker says the council will also consider policy updates to strengthen internal controls for accounting purposes in several city departments’ petty cash funds.
Kooiker adds policies like this are typically handled internally by the respective departments; however, this section does fall within city ordinance and requires a formal amendment process. He says the last major item for the council on Monday will be to set the public hearing date for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 budget.
Other items on Monday’s agenda include a $32,787 purchase for the Carroll Wastewater Department, a new Parks Department mower bid report, and infill housing incentive applications. Again, the March 24 meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall. The agenda and live-stream information is included below.
