Dale, the son of Cyril and Ethel (Heinrichs) Tiefenthaler was born on September 6, 1943 in Carroll, Iowa

He graduated from St. Bernard school and worked at the family farm and Al’s Corner.  After graduating, Dale was employed by Schmitz Implement for a few years before joining the family farming operation.

On April 25, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jean Reising at St. Bernard Church. They had two children Lori and Brent.

In 1972, Dale and Jean started Tiefenthaler Ag-Lime, Inc. spreading ag-lime for farmers. They expanded the business to trucking and sand and gravel production.

In 1981, they partnered with Scott Heinrichs to start Breda Ready Mix.  In 1984, they acquired Moorhouse Ready Mix, a business with concrete plants throughout Carroll County. Both children worked in the business. Inspired by the family business, Lori went on to a 40-year career in the concrete industry. Brent joined the family business after school, buying out their partner in 2003 along with his wife Cindy, who entered the family business as well.

Dale and Jean enjoyed having their two grandsons, Jack and Jair join the business through these past 10 years – going from riding along to taking over many of the jobs.   Jack, having enjoyed the family business and concrete industry, joined Cedar Vally Corp. after graduating from college and Jair started his career in the family business after graduating from High School.

Dale loved to work and especially to spread ag-lime for his customers as many days a year as possible.  Up until an hour before he lost consciousness, he was in the front-end loader pushing snow out at the shop. He also enjoyed live music and entertainment as well as hanging out at Lake Okoboji and attending Carroll Merchants games. He took pride in getting to help build the Breda Golf Club and was an avid member of their men’s league on Wednesday nights.  The highlight of his life was getting to be with his grandsons.

Dale served as a Eucharistic Minster for St. Bernard’s Parish.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean; his children Lori Tiefenthaler (Robbie Robertson) of Trophy Club, TX, Brent (Cindy) Tiefenthaler of Breda; his beloved grandsons Jack of Cedar Falls, and Jair of Breda.  He is also survived by his brothers Dean (Deb) Tiefenthaler of Lake View, Danny (Theresa) Tiefenthaler of Breda; sister-in-law Sharon (Don) Hutson of Omaha; brother-in-law Dennis Kluver, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Daryl Tiefenthaler, Parents Cyril and Ethel Tiefenthaler, father and mother -in -law – Marcell and Hedwig Reising, brother -in- law Loran Reising and sisters-in-law Jane Kluver and Bonnie Tiefenthaler.
