Sac City Residents Could See Slight Decrease To Tax Levy For FY26

The City of Sac City will be holding the public hearing for its proposed property tax levy tomorrow (Tuesday) evening starting at 5 p.m. City Administrator Jamie Lawrence says officials have been working really hard to balance the impact on Sac City residents while ensuring revenue will support financial costs of the city.

The $19.00826 per $1,000 of assessed taxable valuation would be the maximum that the city could levy if approved after the public hearing. Lawrence says that while the tax rate is going down, total revenue from the levy is increasing.

A residential home in Sac City with a $100,000 assessed valuation can expect to pay $301 in taxes annually for the city levy. Lawrence says there are a few reasonings behind the increase to the total amount being levied.

The public hearing is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) evening starting at 5 p.m. The public hearing for the Sac County rate will be on April 1 at 9:30 a.m., on the proposed $5.76025 per $1,000 for urban levy and $9.14918 per $1,000 for the rural levy.
