Sharon Carlson of Glidden

    Sharon Louise Carlson, age 90, of Glidden, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Rolling Meadows Senior Living in Carroll, Iowa.
     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden.
     Visitation will be held on Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden.

      Sharon was born on October 12, 1934 and was the daughter of Clifford and Elva (Kerwood) Snyder. She grew up in Lake City, Iowa, where she married Robert (Bob) G. Carlson on November 19, 1953. They resided in Lytton, Iowa and later moved to Carroll, Iowa and in 1965 they bought a house in Glidden, Iowa. Sharon moved from her home in Glidden to Rolling Meadows in January 2016. She and Bob enjoyed motorcycle rides, camping and fishing at Swan Lake with friends.
     Sharon retired from The Department of Humans Services (DHS) after working there 44 years. After retirement and the passing of Bob in December 1996, she enjoyed volunteering at the after-school daycare in Glidden for several years and worked as a volunteer at the DHS in the mornings. Sharon had many special friends, including Carol O’Toole and The Platt Family of Glidden, Iowa.
     Sharon is survived by 3 nephews, 4 nieces, and many great nieces and nephews.
     Sharon is preceded in death by parents Clifford and Elva Snyder and brother Richard E. Snyder.
     The family would like to thank the staff at Rolling Meadows for the years of care of Sharon. Also, thanks to the Hospice of the Midwest for the comfort and peace they provided in the final days of life.
     Although Sharon is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift. We hold onto the love and joy she brought into our lives and will forever cherish the moments we shared together. Let us remember Sharon not with sadness, but with gratitude for having had the privilege to know such a remarkable person.
