A recent report from personal finance website WalletHub finds that Iowa is 2025’s fifth-least stressed state. The company tracked multiple metrics, such as average hours worked per week, percent of adults in fair or poor health, housing affordability, and crime rate. Iowa’s worst metric is in hours worked per week, landing in 18th in the nation. The only other level above the median is psychologists per capita at 21st. However, Iowa boasts the most affordable housing in the country, 44th lowest divorce rate, 37th for poor credit scores, and 36th for crime rates. This report comes in light of Stress Awareness Month, which aims to raise awareness about the prevalence, effects, and management of stress during April. New Mexico, Nevada, and Louisiana were ranked as the most stressed states in the nation, while Nebraska, Minnesota, and New Hampshire were the least stressed.
