A Carroll man has been released from custody and placed on formal probation after pleading guilty to carrying a firearm on school grounds. According to Carroll County District Court records, 26-year-old Darius Tra’von Chandler was arrested in October 2024 after trespassing on the grounds at Fairview Elementary School while carrying a gun. While on pretrial release, Chandler violated the conditions of said release by failing to submit to drug testing, not keeping appointments, and testing positive for alcohol and THC when a sample was provided, leading to his arrest in December 2024. He has pleaded guilty and was charged with carrying weapons on school grounds, a class D felony. A prison sentence of five years has been suspended, and he is placed on a two-year probation. Any violation of probation can result in the original prison sentence being imposed.
