Carroll County Solid Waste Household Hazardous Waste Event This Saturday

The Carroll County Solid Waste will be holding its annual Household Hazardous Waste Event this weekend to continue keeping the community and environment safe. Education Coordinator Abby Conrad says there are numerous of items that can be found around the house that are considered hazardous due to the materials or substances that make it up.

Conrad says anything made up with any kind of hazardous material should NOT be discarded in residents’ regular trash collection.

Office Manager for Carroll County Solid Waste, Peggy Hinners says last year’s event was super successful, bring in 55 participants across Carroll County, leading to 1,861 pounds of hazardous waste collected and out of the landfill. Hinners reminds those wishing to partake of a few rules that will need to be followed.

Hinners highlights some of the more common used hazardous items that will be accepted during the event.

Again, the Carroll County Solid Waste Hazardous Waste event will be this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the DMACC Carroll Campus. Individuals with questions are asked to contact Conrad or Hinners by calling 712-792-5001.
