IKM-Manning Elementary Building in Irwin unexpectedly dismissed students early today (Thursday) due to a water line break in the city. While water has been restored to the school building, water will not be able to be consumed by anyone until testing is completed to ensure no contamination of bacteria. School officials are advising that could take up to three school days. Until further notice, no one is able to drink the water from the water fountains and lunch will be made using an alternate water source. Fareway in Harlan has donated bottled water for students and staff to use for the time being. The Career Fair and Preschool Prom will still take place as scheduled tomorrow (Friday). Again, this only affects elementary students who attend the Irwin building for the IKM-Manning CSD. Those with questions are asked to contact the school office by calling 712-782-3126.
