The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education met Monday night for a work session, discussing medical insurance for administrators, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 budget, and projects for district buildings. Board Policy 319 states the district will provide full family health and major medical insurance coverage to administrative and director positions. At previous board meetings, it was brought up to lower the percentage the school pays for those employees’ insurance premiums to save some taxpayer funding. Many of the board members supported keeping the policy the way it is and not removing the added benefit of paying the full premium. Director of Business Affairs Nicole McCarville discussed in more detail the FY26 budget, reporting projected revenues and expenses for the next year. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau reviewed with the board some upcoming potential projects for school buildings over the summer months, including a quote for a new greenhouse for the district’s 4H and FFA chapters. Berlau says the quote came in at around $114,000, which does not include site prep of concrete, utility hookups, and more. While not discarding the idea for a new greenhouse, the project will be pushed back to the next fiscal year due to this year’s large transportation facility construction. The meeting ended with a closed session per Iowa Code 21.5.1.i for a regularly scheduled superintendent evaluation. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more on the CCSD’s Board of Education work session in upcoming newscasts.
