Greene County Community Foundation Donated To Greene County School District And Sheriff’s Office To Promote Safety

The Greene County Community Foundation (GCCF) has awarded nearly $250,000 for 22 projects throughout Greene County, with two emphasizing safety. The Greene County Community School District used funding from the foundation to purchase and install eight new emergency strobe lights throughout buildings in the district. The security strobe lights were placed in rooms like the gym, cafeteria, and other places where audible alerts may be challenging to hear. The lights will flash, giving a visual signal to warn students, staff, and visitors of emergencies and will help make the school safer. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was another recipient of funding and recently purchased a new, enhanced drone to increase public safety. The DJI drone features upgraded 6-directional sensing and positioning, a night-vision FPV camera, stronger and brighter lighting, and much more. The GCCF grant was established 20 years ago as financial support for various projects from organizations that serve to enhance the quality of life for residents of Greene County.
