The City of Exira has been awarded a $650,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) to support a downtown revitalization project. The grant, part of the federal CDBG program administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), will fund improvements intended to strengthen the city’s central business district. The project is set to begin April 1 and is dedicated to façade overhauls on eight separate buildings. Exira’s project will be managed in partnership with Region XII Council of Governments, which assisted in securing the funding. IEDA officials say the revitalization will enhance infrastructure, preserve community character, and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.
