Bayard Man Taken Into Custody After Breaking Into Store And Stealing Over $10,000 Worth Of Pokemon Cards And Other Merchandise

A Bayard man has been taken into custody after allegedly breaking into a Perry store and stealing over $10,000 worth of Pokemon cards and other items. According to Dallas County District Court records, 28-year-old Alex Michael McClellan was identified on video footage breaking into a business the night of April 6, located in the 1000 block of 2nd Street in Perry, disconnecting the cameras and taking several items which he later attempted to sell at a Des Moines business. McClellan admitted to being in possession of the items, totaling close to $11,000. McClellan is being charged with first-degree theft, a class C felony and third-degree burglary, a class D felony. He remains in custody at the Dallas County Jail on a $15,000 bond and is awaiting his preliminary hearing scheduled for April 21. If convicted, McClellan can face up to 15 years in prison and over $23,000 in fines.
