The City of Lake View has closed the first window of applications for a permanent city administrator earlier this week and will now begin screening and conducting interviews. City council approved of Interim City Administrator, Jeff Kruse, following the resignation of Theresa Pudenz. Kruse says the city has received 16 applications for the position and asked for guidance on what the council would like to in regards to a hiring committee. A committee consisting of two city council members, two city officials and the mayor will be formed to begin the interview process. Kruse did warn council of new legislation that was passed regarding closed sessions during open meetings. Per Iowa Code, individuals requesting a closed session now need to provide council with a letter prior to the meeting to inform why the information presented could be potentially damaging to that person’s reputation. Kruse will serve as city administrator until the position is filled.
