Manning residents are asked to place food donations to a local food pantry outside their house for the Mid-America Council and local Boy Scout troops to collect tomorrow (Saturday). Scouting For Food is a partnership event with local organizations and United Way of the Midlands as an easy way for residents to donate non-perishable and non-breakable food items to the community food pantry. Suggested donation food items include canned goods such as vegetables, tuna, beans, as well as pasta, peanut butter, 100 percent fruit juice, breakfast cereals, and oils such as olive or canola. Scouts will start picking up food donations in bags outside residents’ homes at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Scouts will also take any flags that need retiring along with for proper care or disposal. Again, Manning residents are asked to place food donations outside of houses for tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) Scouting For Food Mid-America Council scheduled pick-up day.
