SMCH Celebrates National Donate Life Month

Stewart Memorial Community Hospital is honoring National Donate Life Month by highlighting powerful personal stories from employees about why they chose to become organ donors. So far in April, SMCH has flown the Donate Life flag and hosted an educational display in the Lake City Clinic rotunda, providing information about the need for organ, eye, and tissue donors. Staff also participated in Blue & Green Day on April 11, wearing Donate Life colors to raise awareness. SMCH Marketing Coordinator Rachel Walters says, “Each story that came in from our team members was incredibly touching. It became clear very quickly that for many, organ donation isn’t just a box they checked—it’s tied to life, loss, hope, and healing.” Employees shared deeply personal experiences—from witnessing a loved one receive a transplant to donating a relative’s organs after tragedy. Their stories underscore the profound impact organ donors can have. To learn more about organ donation or to register as a donor, visit www.donatelife.net.
