Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) in Lake City has received a $31,000 donation from the SMCH Auxiliary, pushing the hospital beyond its fundraising goal for a new surgical table. The contribution finalizes the auxiliary’s previous commitment to cover the full cost of the equipment. SMCH CEO Linn Block says, “This gift demonstrates the incredible work of our auxiliary and their passion for supporting the health of our community. Their generosity allows us to invest in equipment that directly benefits our patients and caregivers, and we are deeply grateful for their continued partnership.” The auxiliary raised the funds through community events, donations, and other fundraising efforts. Auxiliary President Joyce Schleisman says, “This donation reflects the heart of our community. We are honored to fulfill this need and proud to help strengthen the surgical care available right here at home.” Over the past 60 years, the auxiliary has donated more than one million dollars to the hospital, supporting medical equipment purchases and facility improvements in pursuit of local, quality healthcare.
