The Carroll City Council voted 4-2 Monday night to approve its Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 budget, which includes a nominal increase in the overall property tax levy compared to the current fiscal year. City officials did not receive any comments, either written or in person, during the public hearing earlier this week and moved into the vote with no commentary from the council. Council members Tom Bordenaro, Kyle Bauer, Carolyn Siemann, and LaVern Dirkx voted to approve the FY26 budget, while JJ Schreck and Jason Atherton voted no. The City of Carroll’s FY26 budget includes a property tax rate of $12.16190 per $1,000 to taxable assessed valuation, with projected revenues of $35,072,088 and projected expenses and transfers of $30,375,547. Now that the council has approved the FY26 budget, the final step is for city officials to submit their documentation to the Iowa Department of Management by April 30.
