Carroll County Supervisors Approve $44.5K Contract For Courthouse Door Security Upgrades

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors approved a more than $44,500 proposal to upgrade door security throughout the courthouse and county offices. District 4 Supervisor Stephanie Hausman, who also sits on the county’s safety committee, explains the project’s origin.

Carroll County IT Director Dalton Morrison says Feld Security’s proposal includes updates for over two dozen doors and office entrances.

Morrison adds that it will not only provide better security for county staff but also allow officials to track access to sensitive documents or areas.

Courthouse Custodial Director Zach Niehaus says the update would equalize security measures throughout the most-visited county offices.

District 3 Supervisor Gene Meiners says he favors improved safety but questions the $1,500+ per door price tag. Morrison and Niehaus say nearly all of that cost is the equipment rather than installation fees, which aligns with the typical market price for such projects. The supervisors voted unanimously to approve the door safety and security improvements, and installation will proceed as soon as county officials finalize a schedule with Feld Security for equipment delivery.
