The City of Westside will begin spring water main flushing procedures today (Tuesday). According to city officials, crews will be traveling throughout the community and opening fire hydrants. This process dramatically increases water flow through the system and dislodges any mineral deposits that may have started to form. Customers may experience minor pressure fluctuations, but these disruptions are only temporary. It is also possible for rust-colored water to appear. While this reddish-brown water does not pose any health risks, it could stain clothing if laundry is running. Residents who experience rusty water are asked to turn on taps in their homes or businesses until the water returns to normal. Customers with questions or concerns can contact Westside City Hall by calling 712-664-4493.
