Robert Lee Rutten of Omaha

Robert Lee Rutten, cherished by all who crossed his path, passed on from this world on April 13, 2025, at the age 91.

He was the second born of nine children to Frank and Dorothy Rutten. He was raised on a farm in Iowa near Mount Carmel and attended country school until fifth grade. After leaving school, he worked as a farm hand with his best friends, Bob and Dick Wright. It makes sense that he would fall for their sister, Mary Ann Wright, who was the greatest love of his life.

Robert and Mary Ann were married in Carroll, Iowa, on the 24th of September in 1955 at Saint Peter and Paul Church and raised four children.

The family moved to Omaha in 1957. Bob worked for Omaha Production for a short period before going to work for Omaha Cold Storage, where he retired after forty years.

He was a talented musician with an ear for music. Bob could often be found entertaining delighted family and friends with sing-a-longs on a variety of instruments such as the harmonica, piano and accordion. He was a member of the Eagles Club for a time and enjoyed bowling, bingo, fishing, and playing Keno.

Throughout his amazing life, those who crossed his path, experienced his special kindness. All were welcome and he loved to share a joke, laugh, or story. He was someone who stayed in touch with those that he loved, no matter the physical distance.

In 2005, on the morning of their 50th Wedding anniversary, his wife Mary Ann, passed on. He was also preceded in death by his Parents, Frank and Dorothy Rutten; and Brothers, Ronnie Rutten and Richard Rutten.

He was adored by many but left to cherish his memory are his; Children, Paul (Evalyn), Kathy (Doug), David, and Jean; Grandchildren: Shane, Amanda, Jordan, Jaxon, Tyler, Jeremy, Shanna, Stephanie, Jonathon; Great Grandchildren: Leia, Adam, Macey, Rylee, Emmy, Jessica, Alexis, Audrey, Brendan, Claire, Ryker, Silas, Kai, Lake, Camilla, Lillyana; siblings, Tom, Donna, Janice, Karen, Jolene, Mary Kay; and many nieces and nephews.
