Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities (CRMU) is inviting customers who received a tree to a free planting event held by ISOM Tree Farm this upcoming Sunday. Earlier this month, CRMU announced a donation of 100+ trees to Coon Rapids residents living in at a utility service address. Delivery of the Autumn Blaze Maple, Armstrong Maple and Red Oak young trees will be made to CRMU expected today (Friday), and trees must be planted as soon as possible and watered daily. The Tree Planting Event will have a professional gardener from ISOM Tree Farm teach techniques to plant and care for the tree for the greatest results. The event will be at Coon Rapids City Park by the Coon Rapids Shelter House starting at 2 p.m. ISOM Tree Farm is also offering to plant the tree for a fee of $100, and that will be scheduled for a later date. For individuals who haven’t gotten the approval for the desired planting location, One Call (811) must be contacted and a crew member from CRMU and any other potential utilities will be sent out to locate any underground cables or wires and give the all clear for digging. One Call should be completed at least three days prior to planting the tree.
